These terms cover your use of the Australian Citizenship Test iOS app (the "app"), published by Macwan Apps, an indie studio operated by Jobin Macwan. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. Our studio-wide terms also apply; where they differ, the terms on this page take precedence for this app.

What the app is

Australian Citizenship Test is an independent study tool that helps you prepare for the Australian citizenship test through practice questions, lessons, a values drill, the official booklet and timed mock exams.

Independent study tool: an important disclaimer

The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Australian Government, the Department of Home Affairs, or any government body. The official study material is the government's booklet, Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond, available free at immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. Using the app does not book a test, does not communicate with Home Affairs, and does not guarantee that you will pass. It is a preparation aid, not a substitute for the official booklet or for the test itself.

Accuracy of content

We work hard to keep questions and answers accurate and current, checked against the official booklet, and we update content when facts change (such as an elected official's name). Even so, content is provided for study purposes and may contain errors or become out of date. Always treat the official sources as authoritative. If you spot something wrong, please email us; corrections from users genuinely improve the app.

Purchases and subscriptions

The app is free to try and offers two ways to unlock everything:

• A one-time lifetime purchase, and
• An auto-renewing weekly subscription, which may begin with a free trial.

All payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and a free trial, if offered, converts to a paid week unless cancelled before it ends. You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Purchases restore across your devices via "Restore Purchases." Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial study, and not to attempt to circumvent purchase requirements, reverse-engineer the app except as permitted by law, or copy or redistribute its original content.

Intellectual property

The app, its design, and its original questions, lessons and explanations are owned by Macwan Apps and protected by intellectual-property laws. Passages from Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond are © Commonwealth of Australia (Department of Home Affairs) 2020 and are reproduced, sectioned for the app, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence; we do not claim ownership of them, and the Commonwealth Coat of Arms is not used. "App Store" and related marks are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Warranty and liability

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law, including any warranty that it will prepare you sufficiently for, or cause you to pass, the citizenship test. To the same extent, Macwan Apps is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are in Australia, nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end the service, or these terms, if required by law or if the app is discontinued.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance, and we'll change the "last updated" date above whenever we do.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Macwan Apps' place of operation, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
