From first lesson to interview day

1

Find out which test is yours

Two civics tests are in use, and which one you take depends on the day you filed Form N-400. Check yours below, and the app studies you for the right list.

2

Set your state and date

Your senators, governor and capital fill in automatically. Add your interview date and the app sets a daily pace, with reminders if you want them.

3

Learn and practise

Nine short lessons, practice tests in the real test's proportions, and an explanation for every answer. Mistakes collect until you've learned them.

4

Rehearse the interview

The officer asks, you answer out loud, and the mock interview stops the moment you've passed, just like the real one.

Find your civics test in ten seconds

Pick the date USCIS received your N-400, or tick “not filed yet”.

Based on USCIS’s test updates and study pages. Your date stays in your browser. Not legal advice; your interview notice and USCIS have the final word.

An interview, not a quiz

In the real interview there are no answer choices: the officer asks and you answer out loud. The mock interview rehearses exactly that, one question at a time, then shows every answer USCIS accepts so you can mark yourself honestly.

It stops when the officer would

On the 2025 test the officer asks up to 20 questions and stops at 12 right or 9 wrong. The mock interview does the same, then shows what you missed and how you did in each chapter.

Senators, governor and capital, filled in

Some questions depend on where you live. Pick your state and the answers appear, verified for all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and the territories, with the date they were last checked. Your representative is one search away at house.gov.

Reading and writing, too

The official reading and writing vocabulary lists, with practice sentences built only from those words. Read one aloud, or write one from dictation.

Practice that doesn't repeat

Numbered practice tests in the real test's proportions, a random test of questions you haven't seen lately, and practice by topic. Every question comes with an explanation.

Built to be trusted on test day

The right test for you

The 2025 test (128 questions, 20 asked, 12 to pass) or the 2008 test (100 questions, 10 asked, 6 to pass), chosen by your N-400 filing date. The 65/20 special consideration is one switch away.

Word for word from USCIS

Every question and every accepted answer uses USCIS's own wording, with a plain-language explanation for each.

Current answers, dated

The President, Vice President, Speaker, Chief Justice and your state's officials are verified and dated, and update without waiting for a new app version.
