Canada Citizenship 2027
Last updated: September 13, 2026
This policy explains how the Canada Citizenship 2027 iOS app (the "app"), published by Macwan Apps, an indie studio operated by Jobin Macwan, handles your data. The app is a study tool for the Canadian citizenship test, and it is built to collect as little as possible and to keep your study data on your device.
This page covers the app specifically. Our studio-wide privacy policy gives the shorter overview across all Macwan Apps products.
Everything about your studying lives locally on your iPhone or iPad:
This information is stored on the device using Apple's standard on-device storage (SwiftData and app preferences). There is no iCloud sync and no server copy. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
To understand which parts of the app help people prepare — and to fix what trips them up — the app records anonymous usage analytics using PostHog. This is on by default and fully optional: you can turn it off any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage data. Turning it off stops all further collection immediately.
What is recorded when analytics are on:
What is never recorded: your name or contact details, your actual answers to individual questions, anything you type (including text you type into search), your device's advertising identifier, or your precise location. Analytics are used only to improve the app — never for advertising, and never sold or shared for marketing.
The app offers a one-time lifetime purchase and an auto-renewing weekly subscription with a free trial. Payments are processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account — we never see or receive your card or payment details.
To unlock what you've bought across your devices and after reinstalling, purchase status is managed through RevenueCat, which acts as our purchase-processing service. It uses an anonymous purchase identifier and the receipt Apple provides; it is not linked to your name or an account, because the app has none.
The full study content — every question, lesson, and audio narration — ships inside the app and works completely offline. From time to time the app checks macwanapps.com for an updated question set (for example, when an official's name or a fact changes) and downloads it if newer. This is a plain download: the app sends no personal information in the request. As with any web request, our host can see the standard technical details of the connection (such as your IP address and the app's user agent); we do not use these to build a profile of you. If the check fails or you're offline, the app simply keeps using its built-in content.
If you enable study reminders, they are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device using Apple's local notifications. There are no push notifications, so we do not collect a device push token and no reminder information leaves your device.
The lesson narration (in English and French) is bundled with the app as audio files and plays locally. Listening to it involves no network connection and no data collection.
The app is rated 4+ and is intended for a general audience preparing for the citizenship test. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — there is no account and no personal data to collect.
Because your study data lives on your device, you are in control of it: deleting the app deletes the data, and turning off analytics stops collection. If you have questions, want to exercise a data right, or have any concern, email us and we'll respond promptly.
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
